Gully Boy doesn’t make it to the Oscar 2020 foreign language film list

While we are proud of Zoya Akhtar’s directorial Gully Boy starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, we were hopeful that it would get international recognition at the Academy Awards in Hollywood. Unfortunately when the list of all films were announced, what was to be India’s official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film, didn’t make it to the list. While the makers and fans are disappointed, Kangana Ranaut’s feisty sister Rangoli didn’t spare this one either. She took to her social media account to write, “This film is based on Hollywood film 8 Mile, yahan ke movie mafia chatukar critics ke chaatne se kya hota hai, it’s not original content like Uri and Manikarnika, why Hollywood will give award to a film which is copied from their film?”
That statement must have hurt like a pointy thorn to the makers who strived so hard to give us a brilliant film. Rangoli has been known to take digs at Bollywood biggies every now and then and doesn’t spare her wrath for anyone. Her Judgementall Hai Kya actor sister Kangana is the one who started the Nepotism debate a while back.
