Shark Tank India on Sony Pictures Television has changed the way we look at businesses in India. The Rannvijay Singla hosted show has a panel of investors known as ‘sharks’ who hear business pitches from budding entrepreneurs and then decide if it is good enough to be invested in. As the season comes to its finale, one of the investors Anupam Mittal who is the founder and CEO of People Group and Shaadi.com, gives us an interesting insight. He said that 59 companies had founders who did not hold degrees from IIT or IIM. He was also impressed about the fact that 29 were women co-founders and 45 companies has one co-founder below the age of 25.

Being hopeful for Indian businesses henceforth, Mittal said, “The times, they are changing... India’s entrepreneurial decade has just begun to unfurl.” He is confident that Shark Tank India will change the entrepreneurial fabric of India and further added, “Starting-up just got a whole lot more diverse, inclusive and sexy in India.” Mittal went on to say that he has invested a whopping Rs 5.4 crores in 24 companies on the show which were spearheaded by youngsters, women and families. Out of the 198 pitches that Shark Tank India received so far, 67 have successfully got funding.

The People Group founder signed off saying, “I couldn’t be more proud of contributing to Incredible India and our amazingly passionate entrepreneurs.” Shark Tank India is based on American show Shark Tank. The other sharks on the Sony TV show include Ashneer Grover, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, Peyush Bansal and Aman Gupta.
