'I Presented Him As A Hero' Vivek Agnihotri Responds To Gopal Mukherjee Grandson’s Complaint

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has responded to the complaint filed by the grandson of Gopal Mukherjee regarding his portrayal in the upcoming film The Bengal Files. The grandson raised objections claiming that the depiction was inaccurate and disrespectful.

The director defends his depiction calling it respectful

In a statement Agnihotri said I presented him as a hero in film The Bengal Files and there was no intention to show him negatively. The director emphasized that the film is based on historical research and aims to highlight the courage of individuals during a turbulent period in Bengal’s history.

He added that artistic representation should not be misunderstood as distortion and that the film seeks to bring forgotten stories to the forefront. The Bengal Files has already been in the spotlight due to controversies surrounding its subject matter.
