The 12th Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival brought forth some of the finest works of filmmakers and actors. There was no dearth of talent at the festival with so much creative content for everyone to see. Among these, Suriya starrer Jai Bhim won the Best Picture and also Best Supporting Actor award went to Manikandan who essays the role of Rasakannu in the film.

 

South superstar Suriya who has also produced the film announced the good news on his social media page writing, “#JaiBhim wins the Best Film & Best Supporting Actor awards at the #DadaSahebPhalkeFilmFestival Thank you @dadasahebfest for the honour! Congratulations #Manikandan on winning the Best Supporting actor.”

 

Jai Bhim is directed by Tha Se Gnanavel and is inspired from real events by a case handled by the retired Madras High Court Judge K Chandru. It shows extreme police brutality and how one man takes up the responsibility of helping the victims get justice. The film is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Hindi and Tamil.
