Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios have officially released the gripping first look of the thriller Daayra based and inspired from true events. The much-awaited Hindi crime thriller is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar. She brings together the powerhouse performers Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kareena Kapoor Khan for the first time on the big screen. The film is promising a tense investigative drama inspired by true events. The striking first look poster immediately sets the tone in the crime scene hinting at parallel investigations that ultimately cover the shocking truth.

 

The thought-provoking narrative layered with emotional depth and suspense thriller which delves into a single investigation can divide the opinions and spark a social debate. Daayra , ‘Two faces. Two Sides. One Truth’ 


The captioned tag line for the crime thriller, Daayra, ‘Two faces, Two Sides, One Truth will arrive in the cinemas on the 18th September 2026. The announcement instantly cleared the excitement among the eagerly waiting fans who are waiting to witness the powerful collaboration. 


The screenplay has been penned by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal and Meghna Gulzar. It will be Meghna Gulzar’s third collaboration with Junglee Pictures. Their earlier two were the critically acclaimed film Talvar and Raazi.   The supporting star cast for Daayra are Aarti Desai and Padma who will add further depth to the film’s ensemble. 


Daayra’s shooting went on floors in September 2025 and concluded in December 2025.  The makers are now gearing up for its theatrical release. Produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Dr. Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studio and its being distributed by Pen Marudhar.  


Daayra is all set to hit the cinemas worldwide on September 18th 2026.  With the intriguing premise and the stellar star cast, Meghna Gulzar’s film is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated crime thrillers of the year.
