Karan Johar Opens About His Lifelong Battle And Struggle With His Body

Karan Johar, Kjo is certainly one of the most famous, popular faces and an incredible producer in the glitz and glamour of Bollywood . But not many would know that behind the renowned filmmaker that he is in Indian cinema, he has had a serious disorder of body dysmorphia. He since then back in the time opened up about his condition.
The filmmaker who is known for some of the most successful films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil , Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna among many others and has spent over three decades in the Bollywood film industry . First National Award winner for his film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani.
Karan Johar’s struggle with his Body
Kjo has always been open and vocal about his body and recently opened about battling body dysmorphia. The Dharma Productions co-owner, at 52 feels confident otherwise though he admits he feels ashamed of his own body. He feels conscious when he goes to the pool and finds it strange and faces embarrassment or feels bad.
Karan Johar has been battling with the bulge and has tried thousands of diets and five hundred kinds of work outs too. But every type that he has gone through in his routine hasn’t worked out the best for him and the actor producer is still combating the disease for years.
To explain his condition, he says there is a difference between feeling slightly uncomfortable vs suffering from Body Dysmorphia.
Johar was asked the difference and he replied, ‘ When you are fat, you don’t lose confidence and you don’t hate your looks. You only try to lose your fat or improve your body , whereas when I look at my body , I hate and loath the look and that I can’t even get to look at myself because I am ashamed of it. He also said now his body is getting slightly better and that is the reason he wears clothes that are bigger in size. But he cannot still convince his body will get better and will be okay.

Karan Johar further stated that for 15 to 20 years he had no idea he had a certain type of thyroid fluctuations. When he did his blood test he had found out about a certain type of thyroid issues and few other problems that he has to attend to a treatment . With that he had started a diet called OMA- One Meal A Day.
Kjo expressed it was very difficult for him for the first seven days but he continued with it for 7 months. During the diet he did not have lactose, gluten or sugar. It is only in the recent months he had started weight training , playing paddle as he needed to gain weight .
He went on to say he is tired giving explanation to people who question him if he is suffering from Ozempic which was a rumor floating around . He had brushed off the rumor and said as long as he can share what he needs to , long story short that he is otherwise healthy and he is feeling lighter and better. He is experiencing joy that he has never felt so confident before and with that he concluded.
