Karan Johar Picks New Faces For Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Remake With Ranbir Kapoor. ?

Nearly after 25 years after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai became a phenomenon, filmmaker Karan Johar reveals if he had to have a remake of the iconic romantic movie, he wouldn’t cast the top stars like Ranbir Kapoor Deepika Padukone or Kiara Advani. Karan Johar discussed the growth of Dharma Productions and its impact by the success of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He stated that future projects will have modern casting.

Johar mentioned the new and modern KKHH remake would have Alia Bhatt as Anjali, Ranveer Singh as Rahul and Ananya Panday as Tina or may be Janhvi Kapoor or even Sara Ali Khan. He also hinted playfully that the new generation of star kids are younger nepo babies. !!!


Karan addresses about nepotism.


During the conversation, Karan emphasized that he has never hired anyone at the request from the star parents. He knows they are all nepo babies and he has seen them grow front of his eyes but none of the parents who are close to him have called him to recommend their child. He went on to say he instead himself has called them and that some of the star parents have declined the offer to let their child be a part of the film.




Karan Johar reflects upon Dharma Production’s journey.


From its very first film Dostana in 1980 under Yash Johar banner, the studio struggles and thereafter the hits like Duniya and Agneepath or the monumental success of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998 which kind of revived the studio paving its way for Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and there by cementing Dharma Productions as Bollywood’s powerhouse. Dharma Productions is now valued at Rs. 2000 crore.

While Karan Johar is not yet directing the younger generations, he just gave a glimpse of what KKHH would look like in the modern times.


Johar’s upcoming projects


Karan Johar is gearing up for a mix of new projects under Dharma Production Banner. His intent is to explore new genre and launch fresh talents. One of them is Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Mere a tongue twister for the title is a romantic comedy drama starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday which is slated for its release early 2026. Karan is also producing a high concept fantasy drama called Naagzilla with Kartik Aaryan once again in the lead which is scheduled for August 2026.
