Recently during a media interaction, Karan Johar talked about the film and said that the truth is that he is very happy with the response the film has received. Karan further said that it is not that he was not expecting this kind of success. However, the atmosphere in the industry was quite turbulent. The biggest thing is that he himself has directed a film after almost seven years.

Karan Johar said that the last three years were not good for him and the situation in the industry was similar. Karan said that during this time he had a negativity, about which he did not tell. He was having panic attacks before the release of the film.

Karan Johar says failure is critical in one's career journey. But, this time he cannot accept failure. The film had finally reached a point where it was a make or break situation for the filmmaker.

Apart from Alia and Ranveer, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan are also in important roles in this film. Karan Johar had said in an interview that if he had made this film after 35 years, he would have cast Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan in the roles of Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi.
