Kaun Banega Crorepati 11 gets into controversy

Fans are demanding to know why Emperor Aurangzeb is addressed as Samrat but Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is only addressed as Shivaji. A BJP and Karni Sena leader objected to this and demanded the show be boycotted for the disrespect to the Maratha warrior. The makers of the Sony game show admitted to the mistake and apologised.

The controversy started when the shows host actor Amitabh Bachchan asked the question, “ Which of these rulers was a contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb? A) Maharana Pratap B) Rana Sanga C) Maharaja Ranjit Singh D) Shivaji.” Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fans revolted strongly on social media. The show later ran the ticker on a later show saying, “ There was an inaccurate reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during yesterday's episode, due to inadvertence. We deeply regret the same." Amitabh Bachchan meanwhile will be seen soon in the movie Chehre starring Kriti Kharbanda and Emraan Hashmi.
