Major Fire Erupts At Rupali Ganguly Starrer Anupamaa Set During Shoot Prep

Somewhere between midnight and dawn on Monday, June 23, 2025 a date long since vanished down the rabbit hole in this alternate history writ large by SonyLIV’s Anupamaa, a conflagration much more glorious than anything blazing on-set that day engulfed the studio of India’s then-hottest daily soap starring maybe the biggest Indian star as of now, Rupali Ganguly in Goregaon Film City, Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation was able to rapidly send five fire engines, which succeeded in controlling the fire and preventing damage to adjacent structures. No cast or crew members were seriously injured, with the cast and crew still being evacuated while en route to shoot on the structure that day.

In a joint statement released just after the incident, AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta criticised the film’s team for negligence and called for a CBI-level inquiry. He demanded that Maharashtra’s Chief Minister fire Film City employees and file an FIR of criminal wrongdoing against the producers, broadcasters, and bureaucratic leaders.
