The grand event recognised distinguished individuals for their remarkable contributions to art, culture, public service, literature, education, science, sports and other sectors.  The biggest highlights of the ceremony Padma Bhushan was conferred to legendary Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty, celebrated playback singer Alka Yagnik for their outstanding contributions to Indian cinema have earned them all immense respect and admiration across generations. and Padma Shri was honoured to actor R Madhavan for his illustrious career in the film industry.   


Other celebrities who were also recipients were Rajendra Prasad, Maganti Murali Mohan, Anil Kumar Rastogi. Renowned Folk artist Guru Sangyusang Pongener who were all recognised for preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage. 


The ceremony was attended by the dignitaries. 


The ceremony was well attended and also attended by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Home Minister Amit Shah. 65 Padma Awards were conferred during the event which included two Padma Vibhushan, seven Padma Bhushan and 56 Padma Shri honours.   


A touching moment at the ceremony was when Padma Shri was awarded posthumously to veteran actor late Satish Shah. His brother Arvind Shah accepted it on his behalf remembering the actor’s immense contribution to the Indian entertainment segment. 


The Padma Awards are annually announced on Republic Day celebrating the individuals whose work and contributions has left a lasting impact on the society and have inspired millions across the nation.
