The veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah paid a heartfelt and emotional tribute to the late actor Om Puri. The actor had recently watched the film ‘Ardh Satya’.

The veteran actor took to his Instagram handle to pay a tribute to the late actor, wherein he shared a post with a caption, ‘Revisited Ardh Satya on the big screen last night after ages. Both Sadashiv and Om are at their absolute best. Something Nicholas Ray said about Bogart, which really applies to Om, ‘His face was a living reproach. He was much more than an actor. He was the very image of our condition.’


While Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri are very good friends. They were each other’s batchmates at the National School of Drama(NSD). Further, their paths bifurcated when Om Puri continued his training at the Film and Television Institute of India(FTII), while Naseeruddin was already a senior. However, both of them had kick-started their careers in the 1980s. Sadly, Om Puri passed away on 6th January 2017, in Mumbai. He took his last breath at the age of sixty-six years.

The film ‘Ardh Satya’ was released in the year 1983.  Its direction was helmed by Govind Nihalani. While the film was based on D. Panavalkar’s short story, ‘Surya’. Moreover, Om Puri had portrayed the role of a brave police officer, Anant Velankar, who struggles with the corruption around him as well as his own personal struggles. Amrish Puri, Smita Patil and Sadashiv Amrapurkar also portrayed some important roles in the film.
