The shooting of the film of director Onir, one of the four directors of Hindi cinema with whom it was announced to make a film under the 'My Melbourne' project during the Melbourne Film Festival in August last year, has been completed. The film will be screened during the Melbourne Film Festival to be held in August this year. The main objective of the films produced under the 'My Melbourne' project is to bridge the cultural ties between India and Australia and bring the two communities closer together through cinema.
The first film to be made under 'My Melbourne' is jointly directed by Onir and William Duane. The film stars Arka Das, Mouli Ganguly and Jackson Gallagher in lead roles. It is a short film whose shooting was completed in five days. The story of the film is based on grief and forgiveness and shows the story of the meeting of a father and his son.
Director Onir says, 'I am happy to be a part of 'My Melbourne' as it is a unique initiative. This initiative is a unique initiative to connect the cultural ties of both the countries and bring the two communities together through the medium of cinema. This will give an opportunity to local Melbourne artists as well as discover new talent under this project. A humble tale of a father trying to reconnect with his gay son through our film.

It is a series of four stories woven into one feature film based on authentic migrant experiences.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne holds its own place among Indian film festivals held abroad. It is organized in collaboration with the Australian Government. Four eminent filmmakers from India have been roped in to mentor young filmmakers from Australia under 'My Melbourne'. All these films will be shot in Melbourne. Their themes are diversity, race, disability, sexuality and gender. Apart from Onir, the other three films will be directed by Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, and Rima Das.
