The highly anticipated film The Bengal Files has landed in political controversy even before its release. Directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and co-produced by Pallavi Joshi, the film is facing backlash from leaders of Trinamool Congress (TMC).
The leaders have filed an FIR against director Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi joshi and alleged the film to contain polarising visuals, which could trigger unrest and hurt religious sentiments.
FIR Filed Over Teaser Depicting Burning Idol
The teaser of the film featured a scene of a burning idol of Maa Durga. The leaders made accusations of communal provocation on the filmmakers. The teaser also contains emotionally charged dialogue like 'If Kashmir has hurt you, Bengal files will scare you.'
Meanwhile, the makers have called it a research-backed project and claimed the storytelling is unbiased.

Film's U.S. Tour Ahead of Indian Release
Vivek Agnihotri has gone international in promotion of his film. This time, he is promoting the film on a film premiere tour across 10 major cities in the United States. Along with Pallavi Joshi, he started the promotional tour in New Jersey on July 10, which will conclude in Houston on August 10.
