'Rabi Raga Pothe': Tejendra Narayan, Srikanth Acharya & Joy Goswami Pay Tribute To Tagore

As the 22nd of Shrawan approaches, marking Rabindranath Tagore’s death anniversary, three of Bengal’s eminent artists — Padma Shri Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Srikanth Acharya, and Joy Goswami — are coming together for a unique musical tribute titled ‘Rabi Raga Pothe’. This program, scheduled for August 9 at 6:30 pm at GD Birla Sabhaghar, will present an exploration of Tagore’s genius through the lens of Indian classical music.

A Musical Homage to Rabindranath Tagore

Pandit Tejendra Narayan clarified the concept by saying, ‘I will not play Rabindra Sangeet directly, but the ragas on which those songs are based. Many don’t realize that to express the depth of Rabindranath’s songs, one must understand the underlying ragas.’ He emphasized how his understanding of Tagore’s songs deepened with age, citing ‘Sraboner Dharar Moto’, based on Raag Behag, as one of his favorites. Padma Shri Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar and all made it count.

Raga Meets Rabindra Sangeet in This Unique Tribute

The name of the event, Rabi Raga Pothe, was coined by poet Joy Goswami, who along with Tejendra and Srikanth, aims to reveal a new dimension of Tagore’s artistry. Their combined efforts promise to offer Bengalis a fresh path in their eternal journey to understand Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore.
