Rukmini Maitra is going to be awarded the best actress at the 15th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival. Rukmini is a little emotional while sharing the joy.
In the words of the actress, 'To be honest, 'Binodiini' has filled me up. I am receiving blessings with both hands full. I was so happy that I couldn't believe the news at first. Director Ram Kamal was the first to call me and tell me about it. I still can't express my joy in words. I was sleeping when Ram called me. He called my mother and told me about it. Actually, Ram wanted to surprise me.'
Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a special announcement in honour of Nathi Binodiini. She also announced that the name of the ' Star Theatre' will be changed to Nathi Binodiini's name. After this, Rukmini's mother was overjoyed at Binodiini's new achievement. The actress said, 'I used to tell my mother about the pain of Nathi Binodiini's life every day after I finished shooting. And after hearing this happy news, mothers are like that. They are just asking, tell me what you will eat.'
For Rukmini, the award is not just an achievement, but also a motivation to do better. In the words of the actress, 'This movie will remain close to my heart forever. But my biggest achievement from 'Binodiini' is 'Binodini Theatre'. I am truly honoured.'
After this announcement, Rukmini wrote in an Insta post, 'Woke up this morning to this unreal news. So so honoured to have received the Best Actress Award at the prestigious 15th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival for #Binodiini - Ekti Natir Upakhyan! I can't even pen down in words how overwhelmed I am at the moment. Only goes to show blood, sweat, hard work, patience & most importantly teamwork work do pay off. Forever grateful to my director Ramkamal Mukherjee for the faith he had in me & the path he dared to walk with me to immortalise Binodiini! This and every single one is always dedicated to Binodiini.'
