Filmmakers Girish Johar, Sameer Dixit and Jatish Verma who had bought rights to the real-life story of Delhi girl Uzma Ahmed, have now roped in Saif Ali Khan to play the role of then Deputy High Commissioner of India, JP Singh. The film will go on floors in February-March next year and the hunt is on for the search of an A-list actress to play the main lead. Ritesh  Shah, who has previously collaborated in movies like ‘Pink’ and upcoming ‘Batla House’ will adapt the story for the screen.

 

The movie will be the shocking story of Uzma Ahmed from Delhi who feel in love with a Pakistani driver Tahir Ali in Malaysia. She then went to a remote place called Buner in the country where she discovered that not only was he married but also had four children, which he didn’t tell her of. He then married Uzma at gunpoint. Jp Singh along with then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, were instrumental is bringing her back to India. The film will be directed by ‘Naam Shabana’ director Shivam Nair.
