While shooting Hum Saath-Saath Hain in Jodhpur, Salman Khan was accused of killing two blackbucks — a charge that followed him for years until 2018, when he was convicted and sentenced to five years in jail.

High Court fixed a new hearing date

The Rajasthan High Court on Monday fixed September 22 as the date for hearing Salman Khan's appeal. He had filed this appeal to prove himself innocent. Also, the state government has also sought permission to appeal against the acquittal of Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and local resident Dushyant Singh. Now both the appeals will be heard together.

Judge Manoj Kumar Garg will hear

According to PTI, Judge Manoj Kumar Garg will hear this case.  The development came after Salman Khan's appeal was transferred from the District and Sessions Court to the Rajasthan High Court. The transfer was delayed due to technical reasons, which put the hearing on the appeals on hold.

Prosecution's response

Mahipal Bishnoi, the lawyer representing Salman Khan, said Salman's lawyers had filed an appeal in the High Court against his conviction, and the state government wants it to be clubbed with their appeal. Now both the appeals will proceed together.

While Salman Khan was convicted, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were acquitted by the trial court. The state government is seeking permission to appeal against the acquittal of all of them.
