Veteran Bollywood singer-composer Bhupinder Singh passed away on Monday evening in Mumbai. He was 82 and was recently diagnosed with covid-19. His wife and singer Mitali Mukherjee said, “He was suffering from colon cancer and diagnosed with Covid just a week ago.” The late singer was known for his soulful ghazals and nazms. 

Some of the Amritsar born singer Bhupinder’s memorable songs include Kabhi kisi to muqammal jahan nahi milta' (Ahista Ahista), Dil dhoondta hai phir wohi' (Mausam), 'Ek akela iss sheher mein’ (Gharaonda), Huzoor is tarah bhi (Masoom), among others, which he sang with his Bangladeshi born wife Mitali. Actor comedian Sunil Pal who attended his funeral said, “This is a loss of the audience. He will always be remembered for his contribution towards music.”

In his five decade long music career, Bhupinder Singh collaborated with some of the biggest names in The film industry like Mohammed Rafi, R D Burman, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Bappi Lahiri, among many others.
