In a significant turn in the investigation into singer Zubeen Garg’s untimely death, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police has arrested two of his personal security officers (PSOs). The arrests were made after financial irregularities amounting to nearly ₹1 crore were discovered in their bank accounts.

₹1 crore transactions lead to arrests in Zubeen Garg case

Authorities believe the funds were transferred shortly before the singer’s death, raising suspicions about the PSOs’ involvement in the case. This development deepens the ongoing probe into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Garg’s demise and points toward potential foul play.

The arrests follow a series of earlier detentions, including those of event organizers, the singer’s band members, and other close associates. To ensure transparency, the Assam government has also established a judicial panel to oversee the investigation.

SIT widens investigation into singer’s mysterious death

Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore while on a yacht trip during the North East India Festival. Though initial reports cited drowning as the cause of death, the discovery of financial anomalies and conflicting evidence has transformed the case into one of India’s most closely followed forensic inquiries of 2025.

With the PSOs now in custody, the SIT is expected to intensify its efforts to trace the truth behind the singer’s tragic end.
