On July 21st, several familiar faces from Tollywood gathered for a major Trinamool Congress event, and among them, Srabanti Chatterjee stood out.

The actress, who had previously contested elections with the BJP but distanced herself from politics after a defeat, sparked speculation with her reappearance on the TMC stage.

This appearance is being seen by many as a symbolic return ‘home’ to the party she once supported. Alongside her were actresses Rupanjana Mitra and Rimjhim Mitra, both of whom had also joined the BJP earlier but have since stepped away from the saffron camp.

As buzz grows around Srabanti possibly contesting the upcoming assembly elections on a TMC ticket, the actress remained non-committal. When asked about it, she said, ‘I haven’t thought about this at all. I’m busy with film releases and don’t know how such rumours started.’

With several Bengali film and television actors sharing the stage with TMC leaders, the political undercurrent at the July 21st event has stirred much discussion in Tolipara. Whether Srabanti’s presence marks a political comeback remains to be seen.
