The initiative is aimed at strengthening India’s film eco-systems to support the creators and positioning India as a global filmmaking destination.  The themes include the following : 


AI in Film Making. 


The government plans to encourage the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence across the film industry.   The potential applications include Script development and story visualization, VFX and animation workflows, Dubbing and Multilingual localization,  Post Production automation, Digital restoration of Classic films and for improved accessibility through AI generated sub titles and audio descriptions. 


The emphasis is mainly on AI as a tool to assist the creators and replace the artistic talent. 


Stronger Cinema Infrastructure 


The key focus is in areas that include the modernization of film studios and production facilities,  expanding the post production and VFX capabilities and upgrading of cinema halls especially in regions that are lesser population.   It also looks into improving films archives and preserving the infrastructure and it further encourages the investors to invest in state of art film making technology. 


The government is also working on Ease of Filming in India. 


To simply the permission for shooting, promote single window clearance system and to market India as an attractive destination for international productions houses.  To encouraging State Government to develop friendly policies for filmmaking. 



Boost to Animation, Gaming, Comics and VFX 


India aims to become a successful global hub for Animation, Visual Effects , Gaming, Comics, Extended  Reality including Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. 


Skill Development   


This includes full support for skill development, start ups and industry collaboration. 

The initiative is expected to strengthen training in AI enabled filmmaking, cinematography, editing, sound designing, animation, VFX, digital production and virtual production. 

The goal is to prepare Indian entertainment segment to become a creative workforce for emerging technology.


Global Promotions of Indian Cinema  


It aims to increase the participation of International Film festivals, attract foreign productions to shoot in India,  showcase Indian storytelling and talents to global audience and encourage international co-productions. 


Support for Regional Cinema in India. 


The government emphasizes India’s linguistic and cultural diversity to support regional films and the preserve the cinematic heritage across various regions in India. 


The initiative by government is intended to create employment across the creative industries, increase investment in media and entertainment, strengthen India’s global competition in film products, enhance exports of Indian creative talent and content and position India as a leading global center for filmmaking and digital entertainment. 


The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has rolled out the sweeping reforms which is expected to create an impact by modernizing the Indian cinema sector.  The decision was finalized during the high-level meeting chaired by the Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
