Veteran Actor Raj Kumar Kanaujia Continues To Impress With Screen And Stage Mastery

With a career spanning over three decades, Raj Kumar Kanaujia remains a cherished name in Indian cinema, television, and theatre.

He began his artistic journey on stage, training under Sanjana Kapoor at Prithvi Theatre and eventually forming his own theatre group. His screen debut came with the serial Chandamama, followed by his film debut in Kahaan Ho Tum. Since then, Kanaujia has worked in more than 120 feature films, 150 short films, and over 300 ad films including Cannes screened shorts like Laddoo, Katran, and Mislead. Fluent in Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi, he has also acted in six international films.

Kanaujia believes acting has evolved. 'Earlier, performances were more dramatic. Now, they require subtlety and intensity. Technology has sped up the process — what once took months now wraps in 40 days but emotional depth has reduced. The industry has become more project driven than people driven,' he says.

Known for both comic and serious roles, he considers both forms equally rewarding. 'Making people laugh and scaring them on screen — both are compliments to an actor,' he adds.Currently, Kanaujia stars in Uddan Ki Aasha on Star Plus and Tum Se Tum Tak on Zee TV. Despite his accomplishments, he remains grounded. 'Be like a tree silent, humble, and fruitful. Everything is temporary, so never be arrogant,' he reflects.
