The upcoming crime drama series, 'Matka King,' which stars Vijay Varma in the lead role, has officially concluded its shoot.

Vijay Varma took to his Instagram handle to share the news, wherein he uploaded a picture of a matka-shaped cake on his story. While it consisted of a short caption that read, 'Matka King Wrapped!'

While speaking to ANI at the Lakmé Fashion Week, Vijay shared an update. He said, 'Currently, I am in the process of wrapping up the shoot of Matka King. It is a kind of those larger-than-life epic stories about a man who found a loophole in the system and made the most out of it.'

About Matka King

Nagraj Manjule, known for his films such as Fandry and Sairat, will direct the upcoming web series. This series will explore the intriguing world of Matka gambling in India from the 1960s to the 1990s. The official synopsis states that it's a fictional tale set against the backdrop of Mumbai in the 1960s. It will feature a cotton enterprising trader who craves respect and accordingly starts a new gambling game called ‘Matka.’ The game takes place in a massive storm. It democratises a territory that was previously for the elite and rich people. The series’ cast includes Vijay Varma, Sai Tamhankar, Kritika Kamra and Siddharth Jadhav in pivotal roles.

However, Vijay will also be appearing in Gustakh Ishq, wherein he will share the screen with Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Vibhu Puri will be helming its direction. 

Its cast will include the veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and Sharib Hashmi in pivotal roles.
