When Wamiqa Gabbi was offered to be a part of the upcoming period drama series, Jubilee, it was like a dream role for her. Wamiqa plays an actress from the golden era of Indian cinema. The series will look through the evolution of Indian cinema. Wamiqa, who grew up in a family watching black and white films together, revealed that when Jubilee was offered to her, she jumped at the chance. It was not only a nostalgia trip for her, but also a challenge as an actress.

Wamiqa says, “I have always been a fan of period drama films, especially the black and white era. There was a time when I used to enjoy such films on Doordarshan with my entire family. When Jubilee was offered to me, I happily accepted it, it was like reminiscing the good old days. I got into character in Jubilee by watching popular movies between the 50s and 60s to take references from actresses of that time. The soul of the character is completely mine, so that it doesn't look like a copy. However, in terms of her body language, facial expressions and dialogue delivery, a lot of actresses of that era inspired me.”

The series is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and is set to release on April 7 on Amazon Prime Video. The series stars Aparshakti Khurana, Aditi Rao Hydari, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Siddhant Gupta, Nandish Sandhu and Ram Kapoor in lead roles.
