Vision Behind WAVES Summit


Comparing Padma Awards and the vision behind the WAVES Summit, both initiatives aim is to recognise talent from every corner of India. While Padma Awards started after a few years post-Independence, it truly recognised the service of the individual from every state. He emphasised on the awards that became a national celebration. He said WAVES like the Padma Awards will serve as a global platform for India’s creative talents across the entertainment industry with films, music, animation, and artists of every part of the country will be recognized on an international stage.


India has embraced traditions of diversified culture and ideas, referring to language Sanskrit, Modi emphasised on the civilisation and welcomed communities like Parsis and Jews who have thrived in the country and have become one of an integral parts of the culture of India.


Modi further acknowledged the presence of ministers and representatives from various countries making a mention that each nation has its own contributions and their own strength and success. However, India’s strength lies in respecting and celebrating global artistic achievements and reinforcing the country’s commitment to create a creative collaboration. By creating content that reflects the accomplishments of diverse cultures and nation, WAVES will further strengthen the global vision of connectivity and artistic exchange. 


Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warmly an invitation to the Global Creative community to engage with stories from India that would reveal narratives and in turn resonate with their own cultures. WAVES emphasized with India’s rich storytelling traditions which carry themes and emotions creating a natural, meaningful and healthy connections that surpass the borders.

The three pillars of India are Content, Creativity and Culture of the Orange Economy explained Modi commenting that Indian films have now reached the audiences in over 100 countries and we need to be proud of that achievement with more global viewership. He highlighted the international audience and the growing trend of international viewers who watch Indian films with subtitles.


Narendra Modi also stated that India’s OTT industry has witnessed a tremendous growth while screen size may be shrinking, the scope of content is delivering much more. Along with Indian films , Indian music, Indian cuisine is also becoming a global favorite. All three areas receiving world wide recognition. 


Modi emphasized on the potential of India’s economy stating in the coming years that it has contribute to the Country’s GDP which is set to increase significantly. Prime Minister stated India is an emerging global hub for film productions, digital content, fashion and music. He mentioned the promising growth opportunities in the live concert and theatre industry. He also spoke about the global animation market which currently stands at over $430 Billion and is projected to double in the next decade. 


The Prime Minister highlighted the significant opportunities in animation and graphic industry of India, urging stakeholders to expand this industry for greater international reach.


India’s young creators to drive the nation’s Orange Economy forward with their hard work and passion by shaping a wave of new creativity. Shri Modi said, whether it's musicians from Guwahati or podcasters from Kochi game Designers from Bengaluru or filmmakers of Punjab, their contributions across Pan India are fuelling India’s economic growth sector. Modi assured the Government will stand behind to support the creative professionals through initiatives like Skill India, Startup company supports, AVDC industry policies and through global platforms such as WAVES. He observed that every effort is being made to build a healthy environment where innovation creativity content and imagination are valued. Fostering new dreams and empowering those dreams to life is a promise.
