Why Did Mohammed Rafi Refuse To Sing The Full Title Song Of The Movie Kudrat

Mohammed Rafi declined to complete the title song of the movie 'Kudrat'. In 1981, filmmaker Chetan Anand produced a movie titled "Kudrat," for which the music was composed by R D Burman, with lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri and Qateel Shifai.

There was another song in the film, "Humein Tumse Pyar Kitna," with two versions—one sung by Kishore Kumar and the other by Parveen Sultana. Chetan Anand wanted to introduce a new singer for this particular song, and he approached R.D. Burman for a new talent.

After evaluating the new singer's voice, R.D. Burman suggested to Chetan Anand that Mohammed Rafi would be the perfect fit for the song. However, Chetan Anand insisted on giving the new singer an opportunity. Despite R.D. Burman's persuasion, Chetan Anand was adamant about recording the song with the new talent.

Chetan Anand's decision was influenced by the belief that Mohammed Rafi's voice would be the only one to do justice to the song. He felt that Rafi's voice would bring out the true essence and emotions required for the composition. Even though R.D. Burman and Chetan Anand tried to convince each other, Chetan Anand remained firm on his decision.

Finally, Chetan Anand agreed to give the new singer a chance. Chandrashekhar Gadgil, the new singer, impressed everyone with his rendition of the song. Event after listening to Chandrashekhar Gadgil singing the song with utmost perfection and dedication Chetan Anand was stand still on his words of wanting to have Mohammed Rafi to sing the song. After much persuasion, R.D. Burman and Chetan Anand agreed on having Mohammed Rafi record the song.

During the recording session, Rafi accidentally heard the previous recording of the song which was sung by Chandrashekhar Gadgil. After learning a newcommer has been replaced by him Rafi sahab got upset demanded Chandrashekhar to sing the song. He refused to complete the halfy recorded song and gave opportunity to Chandrashekhar Gadgil.
