Madhuri Dixit and her surgeon husband Dr Sriram Nene decided to produce the series 15 August on Netflix as the subject was very close to the Kalank actress’s heart. The story of the series revolves around the life of people living in a chawl.
When asked what attracted her to this particular story, Madhuri said that she has lived in a chawl with her relatives while visiting them so she knows the daily struggle and felt one with the characters of the Netflix series. She felt like 15 August is the kind of story that would touch people’s hearts. Not to forget the irony in this is that Dr Sriram Nene is a cardiovascular surgeon and touching people’s hearts is something familiar to him.
Although he has not completely changed his career into a producer, Madhuri says her husband is more tech savvy then her and so it made sense to bring him on board and he happily obliged. Incidentally it was Dr. Nene’s idea to start the ‘Dance with Madhuri’ App that made the Total Dhamaal’s actresses dance moves reach millions of homes.
