Prime Videos New Series Jubilee Will Show The Golden Era Of Indian Cinema, Teaser Released

Prime Video announced a new web series Jubilee. The 10-part series is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, while the creator Soumik Sen. Atul Sabharwal has written the screenplay and dialogues. It is produced by Reliance Entertainment in association with Andolan Films. Jubilee basically shows the infancy of Indian cinema. After the independence of the country, development and film business continued parallel to each other. The story progresses to the golden age of Indian cinema when films were given the status of jubilee hits. Thrilling moments and characters of this era have been summed up.

The star cast of the series includes Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Wamika Gabbi, Siddhant Gupta, Nandish Sandhu, and Ram Kapoor, who will be seen in retro avatars. Prime Video has also shared the teaser video, which gives glimpses of the characters played by all the lead actors. The Jubilee series is being released in two parts. The first part will be streamed on April 7 and will consist of five episodes. The second part will be streamed next week on April 14, with episodes 6 to 10.

Regarding the series, Vikramaditya said about the concept of this series and its journey- "When I used to work as an assistant director in films, this love story was in my mind.  At that time there was no set frame, but I was sure that I had to make a story like this. 'Jubilee' is a great story that speaks something about every human being. That's what attracted me to it in the first place. The era in which the story is set, Tried my best to live up to that."

Aparna Purohit, India Originals Head, Prime Video said, “Jubilee series is a tribute to all the artists and technicians of Indian cinema who brought the magic of cinema to the screen. The story follows the struggles of three young characters who embark on their journey to become a part of the film industry.” The music of the series, composed by Amit Trivedi, will take you back to the golden era of the 1940s and 1950s. 

Various phases of the Indian film industry have been depicted through several films, series, and documentaries. Prime Video had earlier released the documentary Cinema Marte Dum Tak, which chronicled the era of the industry when B-grade films dominated. At the same time, The Romantics was released on Netflix, which covered the making of Yash Chopra's films.
