Pipanya (2019)

Pipanya is the story depicting the condition of folk artists in Rural Maharashtra, India. Pipanya is a folk artist who had played the folk wind instrument, Pipani his whole life and since many generations. But due to advancement of technology and income of large speaker systems and dj’s in many traditional celebrations, he and his other fellow artist find it tough to get any work and survive. Also, film puts the light on the Artist pension scheme , launched by govt to support deserving artists. But like many other schemes, this one never reaches the true , deserving artists and also is caught in the loopholes of tedious documentation processes. Thus, the film depicts the social, economic and personal struggle faced by folk artists of Maharashtra.
