Hasavafasvi (2017)

The play •Hasavafasvi' is a comedy play written by Shri. Oilip Prabhavalkar. The major attraction of this play is six different funny characters played by one actor. The one after the other hilarious & surprising entries of these peculiar funny characters make the audience laugh from the beginning till the end. These six different characters are not only d fferent but are unique with their unique and whimsical personalities. These also represent panicular groups of society,like a teenager boy represents the generation of young boys that are crazy for rock and pop music, and hippy culture,etc. Some of these characters are based on real life people while some are imaginary. The play revolves around a programme organ zed by New RugvediSarvajanik Ustav Mandala, a small middle class group to felicitate Mr.Krishnarao Herambakar, a veteran singer actor of musical theatre era. He is still popular and the people have fond memories of him as singer actor. The plot of the play Mr. Krishnarao Herambakar has not yet arrived for the felicitation programme. He has left his villagewith his wife and is stilltravelling. During their travel,they face troubleslike the t re of their car gets punctured etc. (the audience comes to know about this in the conversation among the organizers representing Mr.Waghmare & Ms. Monika of the programme}. In the meantime,the organizers try to entenain the audience and hence these entries of five characters unknowingly come to the rescue of organizers andin a way entertainthe audience. These entries are not planned.These are spontaneous and situational. Th s helps in throughout smooth comical flow of the play. First entry of Chimanrao a character,Mr. Oilip Prabhavalkaris well known for {it is the character from the stories written by well know Marathi Author C.V.Joshi) Second entry is of Prince Vangtung PinPin from Chingpong country. Thisis the imaginary character who has come to Pune for education. fallen inlove with and married to a Marathi girl.This character speaks Marathi n a Chinese accent, which sounds very funny. Next character entryis of Mr.Nana Punje (Kombadiwala) who runs a chicken/meat shop. He has booked the same hall for condolence meeting of Raosahcb Gurgute. He comes for the preparation of condolence meeting;here the comedy is created through paradoxical si1uation.Nana Punje also has praise & respect for Mr.Krishnarao. He is ready to compromise & evenif he sounds dry from outside he still has humanityin h m,this shows k ndhearted human side of this character. Next is a surprise as itis a lady character who poses herself as sister of Mr. Pushkar. She has won the lonery and is called on stage with her ticket no. and she is none other than a lady character Purvi played by our actor. Next comes a teenager who represents the pop,h ppy generation of young boys. He is the son of Mr. Modvikar who has sponsored the prizes of the lottery. Allthese characters continuously entenain the audience either through their weird funny looks; outfits. dialogues and they create comical situations. which keeps audience in split. The curiosity of the audience is hold on till the last entry that is of Mr. Krishnarao Herambakar. The last but not the least is the entry of Mr.Krishnarao Herambakar who represents the old generation. His entry also takes the play to a serious note or rather makes audience nostalg c. This character throwslight upon the careless attitude of the society inlarge towards the elderly. This playis a challenge for an actor as playing these different comic roles (including a role of a lady) with different make•up, Getups and costume is a challenging task. Mr. Pushkar Shrotri has successfully taken up this challenge as he himself is a versati e actor from Marathi theatre and hence this play comes out a successful comedy.
