Anirudh completes his studies in London becoming a barrister and returns to his home town in Tulsipur. He is a forward thinking individual who is against the old rituals and customs. He wants to get rid of them and see a more liberated and modern India. Bondita on the other hand is a forward thinking 10 year old girl who questions the ill treatment the women of her community are subjected to. She feels all these shackles put India backward on the map. Her family does not agree with her. Anirudh is soon to be married to his love Saudamini, but she is conservative and has no qualms about accepting the old customs and traditions. Meanwhile Bondita’s marriage is arranged to a 60 year old man who dies during the ceremony. Her family demand she perform sati. Anirudh is a guest at her wedding and feels sorry for her and decides to marry her. His family and Saudamini are furious, but he takes Bondita as his responsibility rather than his wife and promises to educate her and make her a barrister like himself. The star cast includes Aurra Bhatnagar and Pravisht Mishra.
