IPC The Ratnagiri Files is a Hindi crime thriller and legal drama series. With eight episodes, it was released in 2024. Rajesh Chavan wrote and directed the series. Sushilkumar Agrawal is the producer. The show is produced by Ultra Media and Entertainment, with Blossom Motion Pictures in charge of the on-location productions. The show was photographed by David Basu, edited by Kunal Prabhu, and the original music for IPC was composed by Piyush Kanojia. It features an excellent cast including Kishor Kadam, Devika Daftardar, Abheney Saawant, Rajendra Shisatkar and Suresh Vishwakarma. The series looks at difficult subjects like justice, crime and how society deals with crime and victimisation.
The story is about a young woman who is brutally assaulted during the Shimgotsav festival in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The woman and her family suffer terrible consequences when justice is denied to them because the powerful and wealthy people mess with the system. The parents want to react and hire an aggressive female lawyer to fight their case in court. The show illustrates all of the emotional and legal struggles that victims go through and mentions actual legal cases, such as the infamous Nirbhaya case, and illustrates the immense task of dealing with corruption, discrimination and the arduous task of proving the evidence of what happened in court.
Kishor Kadam and Devika Daftardar act as the victim's parents, while Abheney Saawant is the victim stuck in a horrible situation. Rajendra Shisatkar plays a lawyer who's against them, and Suresh Vishwakarma has an important part in the investigation. The show switches between intense courtroom scenes and investigative drama, pointing out how strong the victim’s family and their lawyer are.
