Sunny made his acting debut in the comedy drama Sunshine Music Tours and Travels in 2016, and he gained further recognition as a supporting actor in the sports biopic Gold in 2018.
Sunny has starred in the streaming series called The Forgotten Army: Azaadi Ke Liye in 2020 and in the 2021 film Shiddat and Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, released in 2023.
Sunny Kaushal featured in Reea Kagti’s period sports film in 2018, which was based on the national hockey team’s title at the Summer Olympics in 1948. He had portrayed the role of Himmat Singh, a character that was inspired by Senior Balbir Singh. Sunny, for his role in the film, had received critical recognition and was nominated at the 25th Screen Awards for the Best Supporting Actor. He has a role alongside of Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey. The film also features Sharad Kelkar and Indraneil Sengupta and is directed by Ajay Singh. The story of the film follows a flight attendant and her boyfriend who decide to steal diamonds to pay off their debts, but 40,000 feet above in the sky, their plans go wrong, and they find themselves in the midst of a hostage situation.
