Amrita Arora is a well-known actress in Bollywood circles who had created a place for herself in the mid 2000’s. She went on to be part of many successful movies like Awara Paagal Deewana, Golmaal Returns, Hello, Heyy Babyy, Rakht and many more which had positive critical and commercial runs. Arora was also Btown’s go to heroines for playing the sensuous and charming women who had become a routine in Hindi cinema at the time.

Amrita Arora was born to a Punjabi father and a Catholic Syrian mother in Chembur, Mumbai. After completing her schooling from Swami Vivekananda High School. After graduation she followed the footsteps of her sister and went on to started doing modelling at the time which landed her in a gig as a VJ in channel MTV. After doing many advertisements for various brands she got her awaited entry in to cinema in the year 2002.

Amrita Arora is married to a divorcee Shakeel Ladak, who is a businessman and their marriage function was conducted twice following rituals of Muslim and Hindu marriages which was conducted on successive dates. The couple has two sons Azaan Kha Ladak and Rayaan Ladak. In the past there were rumours of her being in relationships with actor Upen Patel and English cricketer Usman Afzaal, all of which ended after her marriage in 2009. Actors Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan are related to her through her sister.

Film Debut and ensuing releases ( 2002- 2005) Amrita Arora made her film debut opposite Fardeen Khan in the romantic drama Kitne Door Kitne Paas which narrated the story of two strangers who meet on a plane gradually enroute to their respective arranged marriages, starts developing feelings for one another in the course of the journey, the movie was a total let-down and had a poor run. But Arora hit the bull’s eye in her comeback the same year with Vikram Bhatt’s ensemble comedy Awara Paagal Deewana , which had her sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar , Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal and many more stars. The movie panned out to be one of the top grossers of the year 2002 and also had a favourable critics rating especially for the on screen chemistry between Kumar and Rawal. However she could not continue the good run as she came back with an underperformer through David Dhawan ’s comedy Ek Aur Ek Gyarah along with Govinda and Sanjay Dutt in the lead. After a special appearance in a song number in Ajay Devgn’s Zameen, followed up with uneventful flicks like Shart: The Challenge and Girlfriend. Her next major release was Rakht, where she co-starred with big names like Bipasha Basu, Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty. The supernatural horror thriller was a surprise hit among the critics with highly encouraging word of mouth and opened to do great business at the time in 2004. Return from two year hiatus ( 2006- 2008) Arora after a small break came back strongly with the critically acclaimed movie Deha in the year 2006, following which she went on to play a key role in the ensemble action drama Fight Club- Members Only which also could garner mixed reviews with particularly numb box office run. Vikram Bhatt’s Red: The Dark Side also went on to be a disappointment where she appeared alongside Aftab Shivdasani and Celina Jaitley in the lead. In the meantime she was also spotted in a dance number in the crowd puller hit “Heyy Babyy” where she played herself. She followed suit with special appearances in movies like Speed and Om Shanti Om , in the latter she was seen in the popular ensemble song number “ Deewangi Deewangi” where she played herself with almost all actors of Bollywood turning up as themselves. The underworld thriller Raakh starring Mithun Chakraborty and Sohail Khan was her subsequent release of 2007 which too failed to contribute in anysubstantial manner to her career prospects. Next up she was seen in Hello, the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s acclaimed novel “One Night At the Call Centre” where she played one of title Roles “Radhika” from the book who finds out about her husband’s extramarital affair amidst the mental turmoil of working under an ever demanding boss with her five friends in a call entre who are the other key characters of the movie. The movie had Sharman Joshi, Sohail Khan, Isha Koppikar and more in the lead with extended cameos by Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif too, turning out to be a moderate success but she was seen getting under the skin of the character with great conviction and charm other than being her usual self in the typical “Boy meets Girl love stories”. Heroes too had her in a cameo after which she went on to be a part of Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Returns which had her pairing opposite Arshad Warsi playing one among the four heroines in the comedy of error extravaganza which too went on to be a huge hit. Akshay Kumar’s romcom Kambakkht Ishq was her next outing where she was paired opposite Aftab Shivdasani where she played an immature girl who is guided by her feministic friend in taking her relationships decisions. After playing female lead in Sohail Khan’s Team-The Force, she went on to lead in the erotic thriller Ek Tho Chance , where she co-starred with Purab Kohli and an ensemble cast which had contrasting critical reviews and was incidentally her last film till date.
