Aftab switched to adult roles and breakthrough In 2000 Aftab Shivdasani appeared in Vikram Bhatt’s film Kasoor with Lisa Ray for which he received Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Negative role. He also earned the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role. For the film Mast he earned the Star Screen Award for most promising newcomer male and received critical acclaim for his performance . Aftab Shivdasani is a suave magnate that catches your attention with his unassuming performance that gives him an edge over others because he has played the character that has been appealing to the audience. Followed by his success, Shivdasani once again got down to doing a film for Ram Gopal Varma again for the film Love Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega which he has starred with Saif Ali Khan, Fardeen Khan, Twinkle Khanna and Sonali Bendre. He turned out to be the most promising actor amongst the other two . His scenes with Johny Lever were simply superb and he got applauded for his excellent performance in the role. However as much as the film was loved by the public it failed at the Box office. His next release of that year was with Rajiv Rai for Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat in which Aftab Shivdasani played Tarj Bharadwaj with Arjun Rampal, Suneil Shetty and Kirti Reddy who were the debutant opposite Shivdasani. He is known to be a natural and lovable character in most of the films he has been a part of and as an actor he is very impressive and over the year matured as one of the finest actor of the Hindi cinema. In 2002, Aftab’s two films were released they were Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche opposite Esha Deol for her debut film and Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai opposite Ameesha Patel but both were unfortunately box office failures. His third release for that year was Rajkumar Kohli’s multi-starrer film Jaani Dushman. Ek Anokhi Kahani , a film on supernatural horror and was once again a super flop as the story was not appealing at all to the masses. Then came his action comedy film Awara Paagal Deewana in 2002 that proved to be a successful movie and the film went on to be the highest grossing film of the year. It was the only hit film of the year followed by his last and final release in 2002 which was Pyaasa. After the consecutive failures at the box office and unsuccessful year for Shivdasani, he starred in the multi-starrer film Darna Mana Hai which received critical success. His role as Purab , a young college student who has the ability to stop and move people was critically praised. His next release was Priyadarshan’s comedy film Hungama with Akshaye Khanna and the debutant actress Rimi Sen. The film went on to be a grand success and a much loved film by the masses. The film Footpath followed soon after , saw him acting opposite Bipasha Basu, Rahul Dev and debutant Emraan Hashmi which again failed to do well at the box office. In 2004 Aftab Shivdasani had two releases which were Suno Sasurjee opposite Ameesha Patel and Muskaan opposite Gracy Singh. Both films flopped at the box office. He was a part of the film by Indra Kumar’s comedy film Masti in which he stars opposite Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Amrita Rao, Genelia D’Souza, Tara Sharma , Lara Dutta and Ajay Devgan. The film was a success . He then went on to do a few more films like Shukriya . In 2005 Aftab did a role in Mr Ya Miss opposite Antara Mali and Koi Aap Sa opposite Natasha and both these films flopped so Aftab Shivdasani had to go through upheaval in his career but that didnt stop the directors from casting him in their films and in 2006 to 2009, saw Shivdasani being a part of some successful films once again. Some of the films he acted in were Aao Wish Karein, which was also produced by his production company called the Rising Sun Entertainment followed by his appearance in the film Acid Factory in 2011 , Bin Bulaye Baraati in 2012 and a super hit film 1920 Evil Returns .
