Starring in the film besides Amitabh Bachchan are Hema Malini, Pran, Deven Verma, Sarika, Amjad Khan, Aruna Irani and yesteryear actors Nalini Jaywant and Bhagwan Dada. Starring in the film are also Lalita Pawar, Rita Bhaduri, Bob Christo and Tom Alter. The sound for this film was composed by Kalyanji Anandji, and the lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.

Shankar, essayed by Amitabh Bachchan is the son of the village priest and after the horrendous murder of his father by Tiger and see his only sister and mother being torched in their own home, Shankar decides to give them justice himself. He doesn’t kill Tiger in his palatial house but blinds him. And turns an atheist. He flees from the village and restarts a fresh life in the city by becoming a thief.

In the city he robs people with the help of Balbir essayed by Pran and Gauri essayed by Hema Malini. Once when in an attempt to hide from the cops he comes across his mother and sister whom he had believed to be dead. He reunites with his lost family. He decides to kill Tiger once for all and end the agony he had been through.

The role of an angry young man is clearly shown in this film when he pursues his revenge and avenging the death of his father.
