When Dilip Kumar’s family heard of their love story, they were overjoyed instead of getting angry. His sisters even went over to Madhubala’s home to ask for her hand and alliance with Dilip Kumar. Everyone was happy and the families started talking about their forthcoming marriage and suddenly there came differences between Dilip Kumar and Madhubala. Their love story which was nothing short of a film screenplay, it started with romance and ended with a heartbreak. Madhubala refused to marry Dilip Kumar.

The real villain behind their love story was Madhubala’s father Ayatullah Khan who instilled hatred in her mind against Dilip Kumar. He created a fake story that Dilip Kumar is now in love with Vyjayanthimala and to prove himself, he created a fake news that it was Dilip Kumar who suggested Vyjayanthimala for the role in his film Naya Daur , which originally was to be essayed by Madhubala.

The couple who had dated for nine years and did some wonderful films like Tarana, Amar, and Sangdil parted ways and it is believed that during the film Mughal-E-Azam, they romanced each other on the screen but were not on talking terms. Both being fine actors they did full justice to the role and completed the film.

Despite the two being separated by Madhubala’s father, they would have been married had the court case not become an hindrance in their relationship.  The story dates back to the filming of Naya Daur, a court case was fought between B R Chopra and Madhubala and Chopra had won the case but it left a dent in the relationship between Dilip Kumar and Madhubala as he was in the lead role in the film. As Madhubala still did not believe her father, to prove his point right, he made a case against Dilip Kumar for removing Madhubala and taking Vyantimala in the film. Dilip Kumar was furious and he took a vow that he would never marry Madhubala ever. He went on to marry actress Saira Banu.

Would you believe that the case is still on though Dilip Kumar is no more?
