We wish it was a fake news! RIP Sushant Singh Rajput
The Bollywood film industry was shattered on Sunday morning after the shocking news of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committing suicide went viral. The incident came to light after Sushant Singh Rajput’s domestic servant went into his bedroom to serve him tea but was left aghast to witness Sushant Singh Rajput hanging from the ceiling! He immediately called the police. The police confirmed his death and have registered a case of suicide.
Though the exact reason behind Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is still a mystery his last post on Instagram to his mother reveals that he was in depression and was missing his mother. His emotional post read – “Blurred past evaporating from teardrops Unending dreams carving an arc of a smile and a fleeting life, negotiating between the two.”
According to Sushant Singh’s close sources the actor was undergoing treatment for depression but looking at his successful career and a carefree lifestyle it is difficult to believe he killed himself due to depression. However, four days back, Sushant’s ex-manager, Disha Salian too committed suicide by jumping off the 14th floor of her apartment in Malad hence speculations are – Is there any connection between the two suicides? Was Sushant Singh Rajput under huge debt? or was he undergoing depression is a mystery that has become the talk of the town!
Having no godfather in the industry, Sushant Singh Rajput chose his dancing skills to make his own way to the industry and was chosen to be one amongst the group of background dancers at the 51st Filmfare Awards in 2005 as he was already a part of Shamak Davar’s dance troupe. Later, to make a break into films, Rajput moved to Mumbai. he was featured in a TV advertisement for Nestle Munch in 2008 and he received recognition nationwide through it.
Like Shah Rukh Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput started his career through television. In no time, Rajput was noticed by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and he landed the role of Preet Juneja in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. He became popular for his character in this film and moved further to he cast by Ekta Kapoor as a lead in Pavitra Rishta.
The TV serial became a huge hit and he attained stardom with the success of his Bollywood films Kai Po Chhe. Later with the mega-success of MS Dhoni, and Kedarnath he was on his way to become a superstar. He never left his passion for dance and kept appearing in dance reality shows as he participated in Zara Nach Ke Dikha and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa in 2010. His last film Chhichhore released in 2019 which became a huge hit.
With the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the projects that would be hit include Mukesh Chhabra’s remake of The Fault in Our Stars titled Dil Bechara. Tarun Mansukhani’s action-comedy Drive opposite Jacqueline Fernandez and the biopic series on Stories of India in which he was to play 12 legendary Indian characters, including political strategist Chanakya, poet Rabindranath Tagore and former Indian president APJ Abdul Kalam.
A Psychiatrist from Mumbai reacting to the Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide said, “The suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput is unfortunate. Such suicides by celebrities send a wrong signal to the society, particularly, in these days of lockdown, the youngsters who are already in trauma and job instability will be adversely influenced.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences on Sushant’s death. “Sushant Singh Rajput…a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti.”
“The tragic and shocking death of India’s rising star #SushantSinghRajput has left millions of his fans devastated. The masterly performances of his film and TV career will forever be remembered. May his friends and family have the strength to cope with this loss. RIP,” wrote Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Ekta Kapoor who gave him a break, shared a picture of a comment he made on her post just a week ago and wrote, “Not fair sushi ! One week everything changed ! Not fair my baby”. Filmmaker Karan Johar took to Instagram to share, “I blame myself for not being in touch with you for the past year….. I have felt at times like you may have needed people to share your life with…but somehow I never followed up on that feeling.” Cricketer Virat Kohli wrote, “Shocked to hear about Sushant Singh Rajput. This is so difficult to process. May his soul RIP and may God give all the strength to his family and friends”.
