Malhar Thakar Speaks On His Views About Movies To Be Hit In 2020

Entering into a new year with confidence, there is a lot to look forward to when it comes to Gujarati films. After a loud 2019, which saw Hellaro creating history and firmly putting Dhollywood on the national map, the industry is now looking at outstanding last year’s success and creating new landmarks for itself. With content driven films doing well and formula films facing audience rejection, it is clear that films that provide a different experience to the audience will thrive in the days to come. Malhar Thakar, who had a rather quiet 2019 with only one release in the year, will see multiple releases this year including Vickida No Varghodo, Sara Bhai, Gol Dhana and Dhooaan Dhaar to name a few. Talking about what the audience can look forward to, Malhar says, “Romcoms and dramas will work in 2020. Films that strike an emotional connect with the audience will do well. Action as a genre hasn’t worked till now, and it will continue to be that way as the Gujarati audience prefers more real, slice of life stories. Our audience is now looking at Gujarati films with a lot of anticipation, so we need to create good films. Anything less than the best will not be appreciated.”
