Ishaan Khatter

Ishaan Khatter’s film career began way back in 2005 as a child artist,  has worked as a child artist in the film Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi starring Shahid Kapoor in a pivotal role. In his college days, he worked as an Assistant Director for Udta Punjab with Abhishek Chaubey (2016) and on Danish Renzu for Half Widow (2017). His first film as an adult was in the lead role for the film, Beyond the Clouds in 2017 which was directed by Majid Majidi, where he played Amir, a drug dealer. The film premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and was later released in India in late 2018. The Hollywood Reporter Deborah Young reviewed the film wrote that Ishaan Katter's screen presence was noteworthy and he had the screen charisma which promises him well for his future career. 

Ishaan won the Best Actor award at the 5th International Bosphorus Film Festival and also the Best Male Debut at the Filmfare Awards.

His role was highly acclaimed. ‘Dhadak” opposite newcomer Jhanvi Kapoor was the Hindi version of the Marathi Film Sairat. Dhadak tells us the story of young lovers in rural Rajasthan where they face political opposition due to the caste system.

Ishaan’s most recent and in the lead role was in the romantic drama film ‘Dhadak’ by Shashank Khaitan with debutant actress Janhvi Kapoor, the film is a remake of the popular Marathi film Sairat of 2016.  A story of two lovers in Rural Rajasthan who face political opposition due to caste discrimination. The film did well but lacked the depth of the original Marathi film. Though the film received a lot of criticism the critics labelled Ishaan Khatter as a natural performer and said he had a very expressive face. With the worldwide earnings, Dhadak did well commercially and achieved success.

Ishaan at a very young age is already a winner of the 64th Filmfare Award, Screen Award, Zee Cine Award and the International Bosphorus Film Festival for the Best Male Debut, respectively in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
