Udaan is a 2010 coming of age drama film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane based on a script by himself and Anurag Kasyap. Incidentally the movie based on the early life of director Anurag Kasyap told the story of a teenager who finds it hard to cope with his life changes after being expelled from his school only to return to have confused bringing up.,
Udaan Begins off with the seventeen year old Rohan being kicked off from his boarding school after he was caught red handed watching porn along with his three friends. He then goes back to his native place only to be greeted with further dismay from his alcoholic dad who pushes him to the edge by making him work overtime and enrolling him in a local university, after putting up with much physical and mental abuse at the hands of his father he begins to follow his passion of being a writer without his knowledge and lead a carefree life .He starts bunking classes and drinking with his friends. The rest of the movie deals with Rohan discovering his own self amidst much mental turmoil and turbulence.
Udaan was a critical blockbuster of the year 2010 and emerged with spectacular reviews. The movie is considered to be one of the the finest coming of age drama’s of this decade among movie goers.
