Rahul, played by Aditya Roy Kapur is a successful musician and an admired singing star all over India. His career has been declining lately due to his alcohol addiction. During one of his performances in Goa he gets into a tiff with one of his rival singers and leaves the stage and goes to a club. There he is mesmerized by the voice of Aarohi, played by Shraddha Kapoor. He begins to be charmed by her simplicity and promises to make her famous one day.  On his assurance she leaves her job and goes to Mumbai where he makes her meet record producer Saigal.

One day Rahul is attacked by thugs and gets injured and hospitalized. Not knowing this Aarohi tries to contact him but his calls are blocked out by his manager making Aarohi think that he has broken her trust. Helpless and burdened by financial problems, Aarohi begins singing in bars again. Rahul recovers and learns about Aarohi and apologizes to her, telling her the truth. He then trains her in singing and she signs her first contract with the music producer. Eventually Rahul and Aarohi fall in love, but his alcohol addiction resurfaces when people start gossiping about them both negatively.

Later Rahul learns that Aarohi is leaving her career to take care of him and his alcohol problem. Realizing, that he has become a burden to her and going away from her is the only way forward. He bids her farewell and jumps off the bridge and commits suicide. A distraught Aarohi is comforted by Rahul’s manger that his dream was to see her become a star and not quit and that’s exactly what she does.

The movie is directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. The music is composed by Jeet Ganguli, Mithoon, Ankit Tiwari and Aditya Dev.
