The singer clarified that he is quitting on the playback singing.   He however, clarified that he is not retiring entirely from music as he says the playback singing takes a lot of his time and are longer assignments. Officially he announced a major chapter of his singing career will come to a closure. 


He further added that, it has been a wonderful journey and that he is grateful for every moment he sang for the films. 


Arijit revealed he will start again on a fresh note. 


Soon after Arijit Singh explained decision to quit playback singing for films, he said it was not an impulsive decision and there is no reason behind this said the singer. He said there were many factors and reasons that made him take this step and he finally had the courage to do so. 


The singer expressed that he felt the creative restlessness which played a big role in his decision. That he gets bored very easily and for that he had to keep changing his arrangements of the same song on the stage. He also shared that he is excited to hear new voices rise and hopes the fresh talent will bring him back the renewed inspiration.


He reassured his fans that music will always remain his first love and his next new artistic chapter will be to return to Indian Classical Music and focus on the creativity independently. Expressing his gratitude, Arijit Singh said that his music has given him everything in his life.


His voice may be heard in the upcoming films and he made himself clear that he will not stop making music.

Arijit Singh started his journey with music in the film industry from the film Gurukul in 2005 and went on to become a playback singer for the film Phir Mohabbat in 2011. But it was Thu Hi from Aashiqui 2 that got him to become the national sensation. In Aashiqui 2 he turned into a natonal sensation and earned him his First Filmfare Award.
