"Adho Andha Paravai Pola" is a Tamil survival horror film released in 2022, directed and written by K. R. Vinoth. Amala Paul is the lead actress of the film, with Ashish Vidyarthi appearing as a significant character. Concentrating on the power of endurance and inner power, the film is about a single woman struggling to survive against the nature of the wilderness.

"Anjali" (Amala Paul) is a city businesswoman who longs to escape her hectic lifestyle. Struggling to identify with nature and herself, she goes for a trekking expedition into the depths of the Western Ghats' jungles by herself. Her trekking expedition turns perilous when she becomes lost in the dense jungle. Being in a place with no phone reception, less equipment, and zero human beings nearby, Anjali has to survive on her own in the forest.

Every day, she has to ward off wild beasts, withstand unstable weather, and survive on whatever the woods have to offer. Through this journey, she begins questioning her existence, her capability, and why she is doing it. The woods, while as dangerous as they are, serve as a representation of her own mind, introducing her to the horrors that she needs to overcome and the strength that she needs to release.

Throughout this physically and emotionally taxing journey, Anjali transforms from a conveniently settled city dweller to a tough and fearlessness person through her willpower to survive.

"Adho Andha Paravai Pola" happens to be one of the handful of Tamil films that revolves around a female lead in a survival situation. While the script has immense possibilities and Amala Paul acts sincerely, the movie at times also suffers from problems of pace and is unable to create suspenseful moments in central scenes. Despite that, it is given credit for showing inner strength, the beauty of nature, and the theme of freedom ringing with the song soul of its namesake, which is a classic song about yearning to spread one's wings and live life on one's own terms.
