Agra is one of the upcoming movies of the drama genre. This new film’s story centres on Guru, a frustrated twenty-year-old call centre employee living in a cramped household located in Agra. There, he resides on the ground floor with his oppressive mother, while his father shares the upper level with a second wife. As his parents struggle for both sexual intimacy and personal space, Guru becomes consumed by a desperate desire to build a private terrace room by underscoring an interwoven quest for love and physical freedom.

His limited outlets, including the dating apps, sex chat fantasies, and impulsive self-harm harm truly reflect the deep sexual repression and spiralling mental instability. Behl’s portrayal plunges audiences into Guru’s psyche through hallucinatory visuals and unsettling montages—melding colour-washed LSD style sequences with moments of tension and violence.

The family’s claustrophobic atmosphere heightens as tensions flare: his cousin Chhavi wants a dental clinic on the terrace, while his mother has other plans, and his father views the space through a patriarchal lens. Into this volatile mix arrives Priti, a middle-aged café owner with a polio-affected leg, who becomes both muse and mirror, thereby forcing Guru to confront the transactional nature of their bond, the complexity of consent, and blurred boundaries between love and space.

As Guru’s desperation peaks, his behaviour oscillates between disturbing aggression as well as vulnerable humanity. Agra is one of the recent movie releases that is a raw, claustrophobic indictment of patriarchal repression. Also, it boldly stakes a claim for dialogue on sexual frustration, privacy, and mental turmoil in contemporary India.
