“Daaku Maharaaj” is a recent Telugu action drama directed by Bobby Kolli and produced by Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios. Featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, and Urvashi Rautela, this one-must-watch film was globally released on January 12, 2025 and well appreciated.The movie grossed over ₹115 crores, which made it one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of the year.
The action takes place in 1996 in Madanapalle, where Krishnamurthy is a respected gentleman who fights illegal activities on his tea estate. His actions make him an easy target when MLA Trimurthulu Naidu and his brother Manohar threaten him. At the same time, a notorious dacoit, Sitaram, also referred to as Daaku Maharaaj, breaks out of prison and secretly joins
Krishnamurthy hires his family as their chauffeur, Nanaji. His true purpose is to guard Vaishnavi, Krishnamurthy's orphaned granddaughter. When crime lord Bablu Singh Thakur assaults the family, Maharaaj defends them but gets seriously wounded.
The past of Maharaaj is exposed through flashbacks to 1992. A truthful engineer by background, he became a dacoit to save vulnerable villagers from brutal Thakur brothers, who terrorized them by illegal marble quarrying. When his wife Nandini was killed by their brutality, Maharaaj reported their atrocities, and the mines were closed, with the sanction for a much-required dam. But he was apprehended before he could assassinate his arch-rival Balwant Singh Thakur.
In 1996, Balwant targets the hospital where Maharaaj is recuperating in order to kill Vaishnavi. In spite of his injuries, Maharaaj gets up, rescues Vaishnavi, and kills Balwant finally, ending the horror. He is released from prison years later and greeted home by his family, ordering the dam constructed in memory of Nandini.
With forceful action, emotion, and an engaging plot, "Daaku Maharaaj" is a new film to watch that blends history, revenge, and justice into an unforgettable film experience.
