Godmother (1999)

Rambhi and her husband Veeru, fear the drought has is about to hit their village. Having meager things in their possession and afraid of being severely affected, the couple leave the village and go to the city. Veeru, then seeing no other option, turns to violence and brutal activities. He then becomes a rouge assassin and kills people brutally. However when Veeru decides to give up on his violent life, an influential lawyer kills him. Rambhi then takes over to avenge her husbands death and fights the corrupt political system. She then turns into the deadly and fierce lady that everyone fears. The movie is directed by Vinay Shukla and produced by Rajat Sengupta. The star cast includes Milind Gunaji, Nirmal Pandey, Shabana Azmi, Govind Namdev, Anup Soni, Ashwin Kumar, Sharman Joshi and Raima Sen. The music is composed by Vishal Bharadwaj and the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar. The cinematography is by Rajan Kothari and the choreography is by Bhushan Lakandri. The singers in the film include Rekha, Abhijeet, Roop Kumar Rathod, Usha Utthup, Alka Yagnik, Lata Mangeshkar, Udit Narayan, Sanjeev Abhy.
