Kasauti (1974)

Directed and produced by Aravind Sen, Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Pran, Ramesh Deo, Satyen Kapoo. Released on the 9th of August 1974. Sapna (Hema Malini) is a young girl who lives in a slum in Mumbai with her foster drunken father, wanting refuge. A smuggler Heera (Ramesh Deo) has an eye on her and wants her for his own pleasure. Amit (Amitabh Bachchan) is an educated taxi driver who saves Sapna but is accused and sent to prison for a few months. Meanwhile Sapna’s mother kills her husband. Amit promises to marry Sapna on the day he is freed from prison, but Amit’s father is against it, so she leaves the city, out of his life. Amit and his friend Pyarelal (Pran) go in search of Sapna but fail. She has become an instant hit on stage through Ashok Babu (Vijay Sharma). The end is what does Sapna decide, marry Ashok Babu or wait for Amit?
