Synopsis

Directed by Farhan Akhtar, produced by Ritesh Sadhwani is a fictional backdrop of the 1999 Kargil war, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta. Released on the 18th of June 2004. It is the story of a young boy Karan Shergill (Hrithik Roshan) who is aimless and does not know what to do with his life until his girlfriend Romila Dutta (Preity Zinta) Activist and Journalist, points out to him to do something. His friend enrols in the Indian Army, so Karan applies at the Indian Military Academy, though his parents are against it. After joining Karan is not used to discipline so runs away, Romila gets angry , breaks up with him. He then decides to go back to the academy, becomes focussed, disciplined cadet. Finally, Karan is commissioned and posted at Kargil. He is now promoted to acting Captain, who is briefed about the situation. The unit sets off on their mission. They successfully scale the cliff and attack. Karan is wounded but limps to the peak , plants the Indian Flag, fires a flare.
